Interpreter Positions Available

 

Job Summary 

Under the direction of the leadership team, the Interpreter will facilitate accurate communications between the members and the Uzima service providers, and staff at other community stakeholders. 


In addition, in-house services will include interpreting for assessments, orientations, group classes, skills training and other activities in which members are involved. This is an occasional, “on call” role with normal business hours, however some variable hours may be required. 


Foremost Responsibilities 


Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

·    Providing interpretation in Swahili, Farsi, Arabic, Pashto, or other languages of Uzima members in the area. 

·    Providing Uzima staff with interpretation support as they work with members both in one-on-one and group settings.

·    Attending interviews and appointments with members and interpreting vital conversations into the client’s native language and facilitating clear communication between all parties. 

·    Strict adherence to Uzima Code of Conduct for Interpreters.

·    Other tasks as assigned. 


Principal Working Relationships 

This position reports directly to the Leadership Team.


Qualifications

Fluency in both in verbal and written English and at least one of the following languages Swahili, Farsi, Pashto, Arabic, or other languages of Uzima members in the area.

Education in linguistics or related field, or evidence of training in medical interpretation is strongly preferred.

Prior experience providing interpretive services strongly desired.

Must be a cordial, detail-oriented, patient, professional, and reliable.

Available for work assignments during regular business hours. Evening and weekend availability is strongly preferred.

Having use of a working vehicle and carrying minimum liability insurance required in State of Idaho preferred.

Must be living in the Treasure Valley of Idaho. We do not pay for relocation.

Must be able to pass a Background Check through Idaho Health and Welfare.


Working Environment:

Standard office work environment, with visits to local social service agencies, health clinics, client housing and other locations as needed.
